Item: Truro Cathedral, Truro, Cornwall.
Description: A view of Truro Cathedral taken from the East, across a branch of the River Allen, around 1890. The presence of the pyramid-shaped roof on the tower dates this photograph to about 1890. Scaffolding consisted of wooden poles and rope lashings, and a great deal of skill was needed to construct these to the required height. The construction work used for the cathedral was essentially the same as that used for other cathedrals built in medieval times. The water in the foreground of the photograph is probably a branch of the River Allen. Source: The History of Truro Cathedral. H.Miles Brown. Publisher: Tormark.
