Item: The Celtic Cross in Breage Churchyard, Breage, Cornwall.
Description: A view of the Celtic Cross in Breage Churchyard. The church was named after the Irish St Breacca who built a church on this site. The cross is of red sand stone and was discovered around 1865 by Blight and set in its present base a year later. It is 27in high, the breadth is 22in and the cross 12in. Legend has it that the red colour is blood washed from the Godolphin Hill battle. Source: 'The Story of an Ancient Parish, Breage with Germoe' by HR Coulthard, 1913.
