Item: Men an Tol, near Madron, Cornwall.
Description: 'Men an Tol' translates to Stone of the Hole. This Bronze Age Stone stands on the moors between Ding Dong and Busollow (near Newbridge). Some two centuries ago the longstones were moved to be in alignment with the 'Men and Tol' possibly an early way of telling the time of day, with the sun shining through. Local people believed that it would cure rickets if they passed their children through the hole nine time. Other Historians believed that it had fertility rites when young girls were passed through it.
