Item: Sanctuary, St Buryan, Cornwall
Description: A photograph of an archway and trough in the side of the remains of a stone structure, thought to be "Bos Selyfon" the dwelling of Selyt/Seleven. The Sanctuary is positioned one mile from the church on the Basliven Estate. It was attacked by Cromwell's troops which still left the walls at least 10ft high. It is thought to have been of significant religious importance probably to do with St Berriona and religious healing. St Berriona and St Selyt led Christian settlements in West Penwith.
