Identification
Item: Penzance from the South East
Description: A view from (probably) the present day Humphrey Davy School playing field towards the Catholic Church, Pendarves Road and St John's Church, Penzance. To the right of the photograph is the RC Church of the Immaculate Conception built in the late 1840s and immediately to the left of the Church is Pendarves Road with St John's Church in the middle of the picture. Slightly to the left of St John's Church, the wooded area would have enclosed 'Rosevean House' which in the 1890s housed the veterinary practice to John Stephens. The large house on the left is probably 'Chyanbara' which was Dr Reid's old house or next door, Mr Zia's, and sited on the lane to the south of Lescudjack Hill Camp. The photograph is probably taken either from the present day Humphrey Davy School playing field or part of the Treneere Estate Recreation Ground.
