Description: A view of Prussia Cove, also known as 'Bessy's Cove'. Prussia Cove is named after the 18th century ship wrecker and smuggler, John Carter also known as the 'King of Prussia' by his contemporaries. The Cove was well used over the centuries for fishing and smuggling activities and there are slipways cut into the cliff where a winch was used to pull small fishing boats out of the Cove during winter. The house on the right of the photograph was used in the film "Ladies in Lavender" starring Dame Judi Dench and Dame Maggie Smith. The other houses are now holiday lets.
