Item: The Fountain, Morrab Gardens, Penzance
Description: This view was taken looking west towards St Mary's Terrace, focusing on the fountain. The Morrab Gardens was the first public garden in Cornwall. It is carefully tended by the local council gardeners and despite hosting rare and beautiful exotic plants all year around, is used and appreciated by local people and visitors of all ages on every day of the year. It provides colourful tranquillity in the heart of Penzance. The fountain includes reliefs of cherubs and dolphins and all sorts of creatures, real and mythical. Penwith District Council refurbished the fountain, coating it with zinc, 3 coats of black epoxy resin and applying gold leaf to the fish and orb at the fountain's head.
