Item: Penzance Docks in the 1970s
Description: In the centre is Dew Genen Ny PZ185 built in 1975 by John Lewis and Sons of Aberdeen for Michael Hosking and Partners of Porthleven. The mackerel season of 1975/76 was very successful. One of the first boats equipped with a fish pump, it was skippered by Michael Hosking for 3 years, then Robert Geoge. It fished for mackerel in the Minch, Scotland. In 1977 she grossed £6,153 for 2,600 stone of ling caught on long lines. She was converted for seine netting and worked 160 miles from the Bishop, later West of Ireland. In 1982-1989 she sailed frm Aberdeen from March to November. On the right is Stevenson's beam tralwer the Elizabeth Caroline or the Marie Claire. The 2000 Resolute INS67 is pictured.
