Identification
Item: Mousehole Harbour
Description: Once an important fishing port, Mousehole in 2012 is largely a village for holiday home owners and tourists. Its charm lies in its small cottages and courtyards. At Christmas it is renowned for its lights. Originally Mousehole comprised two separate towns and was one of the principal ports in Mounts Bay, not only for fishing and markets but for the departure of pilgrims to San Compestello. It lay within the jurisdiction of the Manor of Alverton. It was invaded and burned by the Spanish in 1595. In the centre of this picture is a steel tripod derrick which later collapsed. The second car on the left is an Austin Maxi 1750cc.
