Item: St Buryan Church
Description: St Buryan Church is one of many images of the Penzance area taken by Robert Preston and contained within an album. There was a church on this site in 930 AD. In 1238 it was enlarged and dedicated to St Buriana. By 1473 much of the church had fallen into disrepair and large sections were rebuilt. The tower, completed in 1501, is 92' (28m) high and is constructed with Lamorna granite. Much of the present Church was added in the late 15th and 16th centuries.
