Identification
Item: Loading flowers, probably daffodils in bloom, from a covered horse drawn wagon onto a ventilated, largely wooden goods train bound for the Birmingham markets.
Description: An unusual view of this location, the junction of the old Penzance Railway Station with the goods sheds on the far side of the track. The crates probably contained daffodils in full bloom from the Isles of Scilly and were returned for re-use. The covered wagon is advertising Lifebuoy and Sunlight soap so is not presumably a G.W.R. vehicle. There are twelve men in the picture, one unloading, seven in full G.W.R. uniform and two in shirt sleeves with waistcoats and bowler hats. Mr Craze Mr Stevenson and Mr Thomas would be waiting for the Scilly flowers to arrive at (sic) Penzance.
