Item: Peter Tresidder MBE. Penzance Borough Surveyor
Description: Portrait of Peter Tresidder, Penzance Borough Engineer and Surveyor. Major Peter Hereward Tresidder MBE, was born in Falmouth in January 1920. He was the son of Hereward Tresidder, an artist who studied for two years at the Forbes School of Painting in Newlyn. PeterTresidder served with the Royal Engineers, after being commissioned in January 1941 and attaining the rank of Major in July 1944. He married Gertrude Hannam in Falmouth in August 1945. Major Tresidder became a Fellow of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors and was Engineering Assistant at Falmouth before moving to Penzance in 1951 to become deputy Borough Engineer, Surveyor and Water Engineer. In 1960, he succeeded Harry Blight as Borough Engineer and Surveyor until his retirement in 1974. Major Tresidder died on 16 October 2010, aged 90.
