Item: Making crab pots
Description: The gentleman on the left is stripping the bark and shaping short cane ties to strengthen the crab pot. The bait barrel on the right belongs to W Robbins, Fish Merchant of Mevagissey who had an office adjacent to Newlyn Fish Market. Bundles of neatly stacked withies suggest more pots in the pipeline. Two men could make six lobster pots in a day.
