Item: PZ194 Alison
Description: The Alison is one of the 22.86 metres (75' ) class of MFV's built for the Admiralty during WW2. MFV 1047 was ordered from Porchester Shipyard on 8 March 1943, completed in June 1945, but never saw active service. Mr Ralph Pearce bought her in 1947 and he, in partnership with William Sampsons Stevenson, had her fitted out at Fowey as a near-water trawler. She was registered as the Alison PZ194 and fished out of Newlyn under skipper Vic Watling. After the Pearce Stevenson partnership was dissolved Pearce worked the Alison for several years. In October 1952 Williams Stevenson and Sons bought the Alison. She was later given a major overhaul, upgraded and renamed Roseland after the family home in Trewarveneth Street, Newlyn.
