Item: Collecting seaweed for use on the land
Description: The farmer Geoffrey Lawrey from Tolver Farm, Gulval, is collecting seaweed for use on the land. Containing Nitrogen, Potash, Potassium, amino acids and trace elements, it is an excellent activator for compost. It does not add much bulk to the soil but the alginates help to bind soil crumbs together. His nephew John Lewis is on the tractor. The girls were visitors' children asked to pose by Harry Penhaul.
