Item: Loading boxes of flowers on the quay at St Mary's, Isles of Scilly
Description: On a dull winter's day, a lorry is loading directly on to the Scillonian at St Mary's. It is about half tide with the deck about 2' below the quay. A timber chute supported on a trestle is run into the hold, along which cardboard boxes tied in pairs are pushed. Lying on the quay are sacks and hampers of laundry from hotels destined for the Penzance Steam Laundry. In the background a flat bed lorry is parked beside a lean-to building on the quay. A large number of wooden boxes, possibly daffodils, are stacked against its end wall. An elderly gentleman seems to be carrying a large bunch of daffodils on board.
