Item: St Mary's Chapel of Ease, 26 July 1832
Description: Engraving, one of a series commissioned by Penzance Borough Council to record the Chapel of Ease in Chapel Street, Penzance, built in 1672 for £374, before its demolition in August 1832. Vibert, whose firm did the etchings, supervised the erection of the new chapel. The steeple was painted white as a landmark to shipping in Mount's Bay. This elevation faces Chapel Street, the main thoroughfare from the town to the harbour and from the western traffic via Voundervour Lane just above it.
