Identification
Item: Ford at "Trewoofe Orchard", Lamorna, Cornwall.
Description: This is probably the ford in the lane leading to "Trewoofe Orchard House". Occupied by Alfred and Cecily Sidgwick in the 1930s and the setting for her novel "Storms and Teacups", it describes the problems encountered with the flooded river and hazardous crossings on the bridge (which is out of shot to the left) when darkness had fallen and the water level high. During the 1940s and 1950s, the house was owned by Denis Scobey (proprietor of Bassetts Tobacconists) in Penzance. He put in a road that bypassed the ford, which made access to the house easier.
Condition: Good - a small amount of discolouration to the top and right edge of the photograph.
