Description: J R Branwell's 'Penzance steam flour mills' at Vellanhoggan, Gulval. The taller section of the building is capped with a large water tower, which JR Branwell installed after a fire in 1865. Within the mills was an engine and boiler house, a wheelwrights shop and stables that housed 24 horses. In 1883, there were three engines producing 210 h.p and a 50 h.p water wheel. With a workforce of 26, the output was 1000 sacks per month. Branwell's Lane is situated behind the wall. A tipping cart or dead cart and a horse-drawn roller lies in front of the wall.
Condition: Good - discolouration to the right edge of the photograph.
