Item: Morrab Gardens, Penzance
Description: In 1889, the Morrab Gardens became the first public garden in Cornwall. It has featured heavily in tourist advertising for 130 years. In this postcard, the fountain is the main feature. Shaped like a dolphin mounted on a globe and featuring cherubs, it spouts water at regular intervals delighting the young at heart. The original plans were for a tennis court in this area. Mor in Cornish means sea and Shore is app - hence the name.
