Item: The Fountain, Morrab Gardens, Penzance
Description: This view was taken from a house in St Mary's Terrace, focussing on the fountain and showing Mount's Bay and Mousehole Point in the distance. The buildings could be Cornwall Terrace with St Mary's C of E School. The Morrab Gardens was the first public garden in Cornwall. The fountain includes reliefs of cherubs and dolphins and all sorts of creatures, real and mythical. Penwith District Council refurbished the fountain, coating it with zinc, 3 coats of black epoxy resin and applying gold leaf to the fish and orb at the fountain's head.
