Item: An attempt to clear up the flood water in Cornwall Terrace after the Ash Wednesday storm
Description: The Fire Brigade wagon attempts to drain flood water from the Willows Hotel. All the houses in Cornwall Terrace, Brighton Terrace, Trelawney's Garage and the Queen's Hotel were flooded. At least one house in Brighton Terrace was demolished later. Under the control of the Borough Surveyor, Peter Tresidder, repairs were effected so that Penzance would be open for the summer season. This is one of a series of photographs of the Richard Brothers commissioned by the Council to record the event. The Borough Surveyor commissioned E Ford to take a separate set of photographs.
