Item: The Lapwing is transporting World War I troops to the Isles of Scilly
Description: The Lapwing, a Glasgow Steamer, was in Penzance at the time of the 1919 post war celebrations.She had a valid passenger certificate from 1st August 1919 to 14 June 1920. The photo shows the Lapwing leaving Penzance with service personnel on board, possibly as relief troops for the Isles of Scilly garrison. It may be war time as a number of the passengers are on the little boat deck, some sit in the lifeboats. Note the gun mounted on the stern.
