Item: St Michael's Mount and Newlyn as seen from the BEA helicopter featured here en route from Penzance to the Isles of Scilly
Description: This postcard shows the views from the helicopter approaching St Michael's Mount and Newlyn from Penzance. BEA Helicopters Ltd operated the first passenger service between Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly. On 31 March 1974 the airline was renamed British Airways Helicopters. In 1986 the airlline was sold to Maxwell Aviation. British Internation Helicopters company was still operating the route until November 2012 when the Penzance heliport was sold to Sainsbury's.
