Item: Carn Galver
Description: The tin mine was situated above Bosigran on the B3306 below Hannibal's Carn. Here, a model poses for a picture in Penzance Town Guide. The manner of dress and the vintage of car would suggest the early 1950s. The mine was worked until 1878 having never been really successful and suffering from drainage problems. The winding whim used a 20" cylinder engine; the engine house shown contained a 40" pumping engine It was formerly part of Morvah and Zennor United Mine.
