Item: Newlyn Harbour in the 1950s
Description: This scene was photographed after the wreck of the Cretehill had been re-floated, towed away and sunk in 1949 and after the harbour had been dredged by the Tregeagle of Fowey in 1949. There is no shingle bank running down the back of the South Pier as this was removed at the same time. Largely obscured by the pier, one of the Comben Longstaff fleet of 'Brook' boats lies alongside the South Pier.
