Maisy-Sky Lumbers, Marketing Executive Apprentice for Penlee House Gallery & Museum, has scooped Marketing Apprentice of Year at the Cornwall Apprenticeship Awards!
The award ceremony, held at Truro College on Friday 19 November, saw apprentices from across Cornwall’s business community celebrated at a glamorous black-tie gala dinner with the awards presented by Holly Day and Neil Caddy from Pirate FM.
Nominations for the awards were accepted from anyone including employers, friends, family members and colleagues.
The eligibilty criteria for nominations was extended for 2021 so that any employer or apprentice who missed out in 2020 were still eligible for this year’s awards, so the competition to be shortlisted was fierce.
Maisy-Sky was recognised for her exceptional skills in marketing, which have really helped Penlee House to promote their collections and events and reach new audiences too.
She has hugely increased the number of followers on social media channels and has introduced Penlee House to Tik Tok and, in turn, a new audience. During the lockdowns, she initiated creative challenges which encouraged people to be inspired by paintings and objects from the Penlee House collection.
On the night, Maisy-Sky was also highly commended for the Cornwall Apprentice of the Year award, reserved for the top three highest-scoring nominees in any category.
Speaking after the ceremony, Maisy-Sky said “I am so honored and grateful to be the recipient of this award. I am very appreciative for the continuous support over the past two years through both my level 3 Digital Marketing and level 4 Marketing Executive course from Penlee House, Penzance Council and Digital Peninsula Network.”
Penlee House Director Anna Renton said: “I am delighted that Maisy-Sky’s hard work and dedication has been recognised by the Cornwall Apprenticeship awards. She is such an inspiring member of our small team and we are all absolutely thrilled for her.” Maisy-Sky’s apprenticeship is funded through Arts Council England National Portfolio Organisation funding as part of the Cornwall Museums Partnership consortium.
Maisy-Sky’s apprenticeship is provided by Digital Peninsula Network in Penzance. Penlee House Gallery & Museum is owned and operated by Penzance Council.
