Full Name: magic lantern slide
Brief Description: The Smelting Works, Chyandour, with four unidentified men outside. The Finger Post (sign) points to Penzance, Nancledra and St Ives. The building on the left was a barkmill used for grinding Peruvian bark for the tanning process. The Tanyard on the opposite side of the lane closed in the 1840s. The water wheel is just visible. The ground floor of the building on the right was a rough carpenters shop, which made gates for the Bolitho Estate and the barn was used to store oatmeal for the hounds at Trengwainton. The cottage on the end was the Furniss man's house and the building on the extreme right was the Blacksmith's shop.
