Description: The wreck of the 'Busby Jane', 23 June 1894, at Pendeen Cove. The 'Busby' 2070 tons launched at Stockton in 1894 for Ropner of W. Hartlepool. Sailed from Newport on 22 June 1894 with 600 tons of coal for Civitarecchia en route for Bombay. Godrevy sighted at 21:30 on 23 June. Shortly after 23:00 grounded at Pendeen inside Three Stone Oar (illus). Crew saved in ship's boat and by breeches buoy. Salvage work continued until 16 July as holes were cut in the ship's side to discharge her cargo. The ship was towed off but sank in N.W. gale but the salvage crew just managed to escape.
