Item: A Cornish Litany
Description: From Ghosties and Ghoulies and Long Legged beasties and things that go bump in the night, Good Lord deliver us. This is one in a series of 12 postcards published in 1923 demonstrating a wood cut design of the Cornish Litany. The origin of the litany could be English, Scottish or Cornish. It is a post reformation prayer, recorded orally, in which there is a question and a response. On this card a figure, covered in an eiderdown and with hair sticking straight into the air, is surrounded by ghoulies.
