Identification

Item: Hawkes, Farm, Penzance

Description: Hawkes Farm in Alverton, Penzance originally had land extending to the sea. At one time, it was owned by Madam Woodhouse, inhabited by Richard Hawkins Esq in 1864 and by Admiral Pellew, Viscount Exmouth from 1765 to 1770. The cottage looks, in 2014, very much like it does in this picture but ther is a plaque to commemorate Viscount Exmouth on the wall. By how much the land in front has sunk can be seen by the level of the road above it.
