Sir Alfred Munnings (1878-1959) spent a short time living in Lamorna, where he met his first wife Florence and became firm friends with other Lamorna artists, especially Laura and Harold Knight, Dod and Ernest Procter and Lamorna Birch.
Famous for his equestrian paintings, Munnings was commissioned to paint horses at work in Cornwall, including hunting and farming within the local landscape. This focus exhibition will bring together a selection of Munnings ‘Cornish’ works for the first time and explore his time in Cornwall alongside works by his friends and contemporaries.
